Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response attempts to address the task by describing the trends for various activities. However, it fails to provide a clear overview of the main features or significant trends. The description of the data is often confusing and inaccurate; for example, the description of 'table tannis' as 'accounted in 2010' is unclear, and the overall summary is poorly constructed. The response lacks a logical selection of data, focusing on individual fluctuations rather than identifying the most significant changes or comparisons between the activities. Consequently, the information is not clearly reported, and the task is only partially addressed.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay lacks a clear structure. It is written as a single block of text, which makes it difficult to follow. While there are some attempts at cohesive devices like 'Moreover', 'Along with', and 'However', they are often used incorrectly or do not logically connect the sentences. The progression of ideas is disjointed, and the referencing is frequently unclear. The lack of paragraphing and the repetitive, mechanical nature of the transitions significantly hinder the flow of the response, making it difficult for the reader to identify the main points.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and contains numerous spelling errors that occasionally impede communication, such as 'participates' instead of 'participants', 'evidet' for 'evident', 'compareason' for 'comparison', 'decrersed' for 'decreased', 'material arts' for 'martial arts', 'Aneteur dermatic' for 'amateur dramatics', and 'tannis' for 'tennis'. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to describe trends precisely. The student relies on basic, repetitive phrasing to describe changes, such as 'rose', 'down', and 'constant', which limits the ability to convey the data accurately. More precise terminology for describing trends is required.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that often cause difficulty for the reader. There are significant issues with sentence structure, such as fragments ('which is at starting remain constant') and run-on sentences. Subject-verb agreement is inconsistent, and there is a lack of control over basic punctuation and capitalization. The range of structures is very limited, consisting mostly of simple, poorly constructed sentences. Complex structures are attempted but are almost always faulty, leading to a lack of clarity. The high frequency of errors in basic grammar significantly impacts the overall readability of the report.
