Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response covers all key features of the graph, including the overall trends and specific data points for the various activities. You successfully identified the main trend for the film club and the significant growth in table tennis. However, the report could be improved by providing a more precise comparison of the data points. For instance, stating 'amateur dramatics decreased 5' is slightly vague without specifying the timeframe or the starting/ending values clearly. Additionally, the overview is a bit brief; while it captures the main trend, it could be more comprehensive by highlighting the most significant changes across the entire period rather than just mentioning fluctuations.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is logically organized into an introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs. The progression of ideas is generally clear, and you use some cohesive devices such as 'In contrast', 'On the other hand', and 'Moreover' to link your points. However, some transitions feel a bit mechanical, and the referencing is occasionally slightly awkward, such as 'After, 2005 people started...'. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring smoother transitions between sentences would help elevate the flow of the report. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the different categories of activities.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'fluctuations', 'attained', 'steadily', and 'drastically'. There are some minor inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'least prefer activity' (should be 'least preferred') and 'participants number were 35' (should be 'the number of participants was 35'). While these errors do not impede communication, they indicate a need for more precise control over word forms and sentence structure. Expanding your repertoire of reporting verbs and descriptive adjectives would help you achieve a higher band score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While many sentences are clear, there are several grammatical errors, such as 'between 2000 to 2020' (should be 'between 2000 and 2020'), 'film club attracted majority' (missing article 'the'), and 'amateur dramatics decreased 5' (missing preposition 'by'). These errors occur frequently enough to be noticeable but do not prevent the reader from understanding the information. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement, the correct use of articles, and ensuring that prepositions are used accurately when describing numerical changes.
