The graph below gives information on the numbers of participants for different activities at one social centre in Melbourne, Australia for the period 2000 to 2020.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

 

 

Student answer (Band 6.0)

The given line chart illustrates the data on the participation of people for various activities at one public centre in Melbourne, Australia between 2000 and 2020.

Overall, it is apparent that number of participations is significantly higher for the film club while the lowest is for the amateur dramatics in the final year. Moreover, the growth rate of participants is most for the table tennis, and the least is for film club.

To begin with, it is noticeable that, in 2000, film club has the highest number of members with 65 while music group has zero. After five years, film club members were marginally declined to nearly 62 whereas, musical performances group still remained on 0. By the next 5 years, musical performances participation soared by considerable numbers to 10 while film club was still declining to 60. In 2015 and 2020, both of them showed progress in their recruitment and has increase steadily.

Now, martial arts activity had fluctuation over the given period and ended up with approximately 35. Whereas Amateur dramatics participation fell to less than 10 by end, and table tennis swelled to more than 50 by 2020.
