Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
You have successfully identified the main features of the graph, such as the downward trend in amateur dramatics and the significant increase in table tennis. You also provided a clear overview. However, the response lacks precision in reporting data. For example, you mention 'nearly 27 participants' and 'closely 62', but some figures are vague or slightly inaccurate based on the visual data. Additionally, the description of the 'Film club' as having the same number at the start and end is a good observation, but the overall reporting could be more structured to ensure all trends are clearly compared rather than just listed.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The response is organised into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the information. You use some cohesive devices like 'To begin with', 'Moving forward to', and 'while'. However, some transitions are mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'Moving forward to, all other three activities'. The referencing is sometimes unclear, particularly in the final sentence where the flow becomes fragmented. Improving the use of linking words to create smoother transitions between sentences would enhance the overall coherence of your report.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You have a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey the main points, using terms like 'fluctuated', 'downward trend', and 'significantly'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'in digits of number of participants', 'takes play', and 'at the end of time period'. These errors occasionally make the text feel unnatural. To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise collocations and avoiding repetitive phrasing when describing trends and data points.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as 'Film club begin with' (subject-verb agreement), 'rises to' (tense inconsistency), and 'in period of time' (missing articles). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with some run-on sentences and missing commas. These errors do not completely impede communication, but they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and consistent tense usage will significantly improve your accuracy.
