Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response covers all key features of the graph, including the trends for all five activities. You successfully identified the main trends, such as the significant increase in Table tennis and the stability of the Film club. However, the report could be improved by making more direct comparisons between the categories rather than listing them individually. For instance, noting that the Film club remained the most popular activity throughout the period would have provided a stronger analytical overview. The data points are generally accurate, though the description of the Musical performances starting at '0' in 2005 is a good observation that adds detail to the summary.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, with an introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs focusing on different activity trends. Cohesive devices such as 'In contrast', 'Furthermore', and 'Similarly' are used to link ideas. However, the flow is occasionally mechanical, and some transitions feel repetitive. The referencing is generally clear, though the use of 'the members of' is repeated frequently, which makes the text feel slightly monotonous. Improving the variety of cohesive structures and avoiding repetitive phrasing would help the response achieve a higher band score for cohesion.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You have a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey the information clearly. You use appropriate terms like 'dramatically increased', 'gradually fell off', and 'remained stable'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'individuals of Film club' (should be 'membership of the Film club') and 'reached to near' (should be 'reached nearly'). The repetition of the phrase 'the members of' throughout the text limits the lexical variety. To improve, try to use synonyms like 'participants', 'attendees', or 'figures' to refer to the data points.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is always clear, there are several grammatical errors, such as 'individuals participated' (should be 'individuals participating'), 'reached approximate 53' (should be 'reached approximately 53'), and 'through out' (should be 'throughout'). Additionally, there are minor punctuation errors, such as the space before the comma in '68 members .'. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and correct preposition usage will enhance your accuracy.
