The graph below gives information on the numbers of participants for different activities at one social centre in Melbourne, Australia for the period 2000 to 2020.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
Student answer (Band 6.5)
The given line graph illustrates details about the data of students who participated in the various activities at social centre in Melbourne, Australia from 2000 to 2020.
In 2000, the film club had the highest number of participants, at around 65, followed by martial arts with 35. Amateur dramatics attracted around 25 people, while 15 participants were in the Table Tennis. There were no participants in music performances. by 2010, number of attending the film club had fallen slightly to 60, whereas martial arts rose to about 38. Amateur dramatics and table tennis both stood at 20 participants while musical performances increased to 12.
From 2010 onwards, the Table Tennis participants rose sharply, reaching 35 participants in 2015 and 55 in 2020. The film club also recovered gradually, finishing at 66 participants. By contrast, Amateur dramatics fell sharply from 20 in 2010 to only 6 in 2020. Musical performances continued to grow, reaching 18 participants by the end of the period.
Overall, the film club was the most popular activity, while table tennis saw the biggest rise. Musical performances increased from zero.
