Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the score. Furthermore, the essay is incomplete, ending abruptly with an unfinished sentence. While you attempted to identify some trends, the analysis is fragmented and lacks a clear overview of the data. You failed to cover all the activities shown in the graph, leaving the report unbalanced. To improve, ensure you provide a clear summary of the main trends in the introduction or overview paragraph and complete all sections of your analysis. You must also ensure that you reach the minimum word count to avoid a penalty.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay lacks a logical structure. The paragraphing is inconsistent, and the final paragraph is incomplete, which disrupts the flow of information. While you use some cohesive devices like 'In contrast' and 'However', their usage is sometimes awkward or grammatically incorrect. The progression of ideas is difficult to follow because the data is presented in a disjointed manner. To improve, focus on using clear topic sentences for each paragraph and ensure that your comparisons are linked logically. Avoid ending your response mid-sentence, as this severely hinders the coherence of the entire piece.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is quite limited and repetitive. You frequently use the word 'participants' and 'activities' without much variation. There are also errors in word choice, such as 'participates' (a verb) instead of 'participants' (a noun) and 'slightly variation' instead of 'slight variation'. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to describe trends accurately (e.g., using 'hits its lowest point' is acceptable, but the surrounding context is weak). To improve, try to incorporate a wider range of synonyms and collocations related to data description, such as 'fluctuated significantly', 'remained stable', or 'reached a peak'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

There are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. Examples include 'who's number' (should be 'whose'), 'there participants number' (should be 'their participant numbers'), and 'are approximately same' (missing the article 'the'). The sentence structures are mostly simple, and the attempts at complex sentences are often marred by errors in subject-verb agreement and punctuation. To improve, focus on basic accuracy, particularly with possessive pronouns (their vs. there) and articles. Practice constructing error-free simple sentences before attempting more complex structures.
