Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

You have successfully identified the main features of the graph, such as the overall dominance of the Film club and the trends for other activities. However, the response contains significant factual inaccuracies. For instance, you mention that Musical performances showed an upward trend from '2025 to 2020', which is chronologically impossible given the task period. Additionally, your description of the data points is sometimes vague (e.g., 'above 30' or 'under 20'), lacking the precision required for a higher band. To improve, ensure that you accurately interpret the years and data points provided in the visual prompt.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. You use some cohesive devices such as 'However', 'Furthermore', and 'Nevertheless' to link ideas. However, the use of these connectors is sometimes mechanical or slightly misused, such as starting a sentence with 'Nevertheless' when the preceding information does not necessarily contrast with the next point. The progression of ideas is generally clear, but the internal logic within paragraphs could be tightened to ensure a smoother flow between the specific data points mentioned.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'fluctuations', 'drastically', and 'tremendous growth'. However, there are instances of informal or imprecise word choices, such as 'folks' instead of 'participants' or 'individuals', and 'concise look' which is not the standard collocation for introducing a report. Some phrasing is slightly awkward, such as 'The data can be calibrated in numbers', which does not fit the context of describing a graph. Expanding your range of academic collocations would help elevate your score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is a positive step. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('the another event... were down') and incorrect preposition usage. There are also errors in tense consistency and logical phrasing, such as the mention of '2025' which is outside the provided data range. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher band score. Focus on proofreading for basic agreement and tense accuracy.
