Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response covers all parts of the task and identifies key trends, such as the dominance of the film club and the growth of table tennis. However, the reporting of data is inconsistent. For instance, you mention 'Martial stood around 35' without specifying the timeframe, and the description of the initial figures for table tennis, amateur dramatics, and martial arts is somewhat vague. To reach a higher band, ensure that data points are clearly linked to specific years and that the comparison between categories is more precise. The overview is present but could be more effectively integrated to highlight the most significant changes across the entire period.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is logically organised into an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the overview from the detailed analysis. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical. Phrases like 'Furthermore' and 'on the other hand' are used correctly, but the flow between sentences could be smoother. Some transitions feel abrupt, particularly when moving between the different activities in the second paragraph. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each sentence builds clearly upon the previous one would enhance the overall coherence.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to convey the main trends. You use some topic-specific terms like 'participants', 'attendees', and 'fluctuations'. However, the range is somewhat limited, and there are instances where word choice could be more precise. For example, 'count of attendees' is slightly unnatural; 'number of participants' is better. Additionally, 'Martial stood around 35' is grammatically incomplete as it refers to the activity rather than the number of people. Expanding your range of synonyms for 'increase' and 'decrease' would help demonstrate a higher level of lexical control.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical slips. For example, 'musical performance had 0 participants 2000' is missing a preposition ('in 2000'). Similarly, 'Martial stood around 35' should be 'The number of participants in martial arts stood at around 35'. There are also minor punctuation and phrasing issues throughout. To improve, focus on ensuring subject-verb agreement and the correct use of prepositions when discussing data points. The majority of your sentences are understandable, but more error-free complex structures are needed for a higher band.
