Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.5

You have provided a clear and accurate summary of the main features of the graph. You successfully identified the overall trends, such as the popularity of the film club and the significant growth of table tennis. The data is well-selected, and you have made relevant comparisons between the activities throughout the period. You covered all parts of the task effectively, including the start and end points of the data. To reach a higher band, ensure that you consistently highlight the most significant trends rather than listing too many individual data points, which can sometimes clutter the analysis.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.5

The response is logically organized with a clear introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs that group the information effectively. The progression of ideas is smooth, and you have used a range of cohesive devices such as 'while', 'in comparison', 'meanwhile', and 'in contrast' to link your points. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the different trends. The flow of information is natural, and the relationship between the different activities is easy to follow throughout the text.

Lexical Resource — Band 7.0

You have demonstrated a good range of vocabulary appropriate for a task of this nature. Phrases such as 'experienced fluctuations', 'skyrocketed', and 'declined to' show a good command of descriptive language. The vocabulary is precise and used accurately to convey the trends shown in the graph. There are no spelling errors, and the word choice is consistently appropriate for an academic report. To improve further, you could incorporate a few more sophisticated collocations or topic-specific synonyms to demonstrate even greater flexibility.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 7.5

Your grammar is strong, with a good mix of simple and complex sentence structures. You have used subordinate clauses effectively, such as 'while the other activities experienced fluctuations' and 'after which participation increased gradually'. Punctuation is generally accurate, and the majority of your sentences are error-free. The control over tense usage is consistent, correctly reflecting the past time frame of the graph. There are no significant grammatical errors that impede communication, and the sentence variety keeps the writing engaging.
