Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 8.0

The response is excellent. You have successfully identified all key features, including the overall trends and specific data points for each activity. The overview paragraph clearly highlights the main movements, such as the film club's popularity and the significant growth in table tennis. You have made relevant comparisons throughout, such as contrasting the rise of table tennis with the decline of amateur dramatics. The data is accurate and well-selected, providing a comprehensive summary of the graph without unnecessary detail. This fully satisfies the requirements of the task.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.5

The response is logically organized with a clear introduction, an overview, and distinct body paragraphs for each activity group. The progression of ideas is smooth, and you have used a good range of cohesive devices such as 'meanwhile', 'in contrast', and 'finally' to link your points effectively. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the different categories of data, which helps the reader follow the analysis easily. The structure is coherent and professional throughout.

Lexical Resource — Band 7.0

You have used a sufficient range of vocabulary to describe trends accurately, such as 'fluctuating', 'significant growth', 'upward trend', and 'declining further'. The language is precise and appropriate for an academic report. While the vocabulary is functional and accurate, incorporating a few more sophisticated collocations or varied synonyms for 'increased' and 'decreased' could elevate the response further. However, the current range is more than adequate for a high band score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 8.0

The grammar is highly accurate with a wide range of structures used correctly. You have successfully employed complex sentences, such as 'This figure fell slightly to 62 in 2005 and 60 in 2010, before rising to around 65 in 2015 and 66 in 2020.' Punctuation is used correctly, and there are virtually no errors in tense or subject-verb agreement. The control over sentence structure is consistent, making the text very easy to read and understand.
