Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response provides a clear overview of the main trends, such as the growth in table tennis and the decline in amateur dramatics. You successfully identified the key features and made relevant comparisons between the activities. However, the report lacks precision in data reporting. For instance, stating 'accounted for between 30 to 40' is vague, and 'reached at near by 60 their pick point' is imprecise. To reach a higher band, ensure that data points are cited more accurately and that the overview clearly distinguishes between the overall trends of all categories mentioned in the graph.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas from the introduction to the body paragraphs. You used some cohesive devices such as 'Furthermore', 'In addition', and 'Probing further' to link your points. However, the flow is occasionally hindered by awkward phrasing and mechanical transitions. The referencing is sometimes unclear, such as in the sentence 'followed by the same trend in martial arts', which does not clearly link back to the previous clause. Improving the variety of cohesive devices and ensuring smoother transitions between sentences would enhance the overall coherence.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You have an adequate range of vocabulary to describe trends, such as 'downward trend', 'inclined gradually', and 'surpassed'. However, there are several instances of word choice errors and awkward collocations, such as 'musical per formation' (musical performances) and 'their pick point' (their peak). Additionally, the phrasing 'in next 1.5 decade' is non-standard. While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey the main points, the lack of precision and occasional errors in word formation prevent the response from reaching a higher band. Focusing on accurate collocations and standard terminology for data reporting will be beneficial.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, including missing articles ('at social center'), incorrect prepositions ('reached at'), and subject-verb agreement issues ('the Amateur presented downward trend'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to affect the overall fluency. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically the correct use of articles and prepositions when describing statistical data.
