Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response covers the main features of the graph, but the analysis is inconsistent and contains factual inaccuracies. For example, you mention 'Amateur dramatics' has a sharp increase to above 50 percent, but the data does not support this. Additionally, the description of musical performances is confusing, and the final sentence regarding amateur dramatics is incomplete ('reaaches almost percent'). While you identify the main trends, the lack of precision in reporting the data points and the contradictory information provided hinder the overall task achievement. To improve, ensure you carefully cross-reference your descriptions with the visual data provided.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the flow of ideas is often disjointed. The use of cohesive devices is limited and sometimes mechanical, such as 'Moving to the remaining trends'. The transition between the overview and the body paragraphs is abrupt, and the internal logic within the second body paragraph is weak, particularly when discussing the amateur dramatics trend, which is described in two separate, contradictory segments. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring a logical progression of data would significantly enhance the coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'fluctuation', 'considerable variation', and 'dramatically declines'. However, there are frequent errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'lowest activities which are attended' instead of 'least popular activity'. You also struggle with numerical expressions, often using 'percentage' incorrectly (e.g., '65 percentage' instead of '65 percent'). While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey the general meaning, the inaccuracies and repetitive phrasing limit your score. Focus on using precise terminology for data reporting and checking your word forms.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but grammatical errors are frequent and sometimes impede clarity. There are issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'film club it has'), incorrect preposition use, and missing articles. Punctuation is also inconsistent, and some sentences are poorly constructed, such as the final sentence which is missing a value and contains a typo ('reaaches'). While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar prevents the response from reaching a higher band. Focus on proofreading for subject-verb agreement and sentence completeness.
