Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response covers all five activities and attempts to report main features. However, the data interpretation is often inaccurate or confusing. For example, stating that Amateur dramatics had 25 individuals and then 'solely 5' in 2010 is difficult to follow, and the description of the film club as 'stable' is a reasonable observation, but the overall summary lacks precision. The report fails to clearly distinguish between the trends of the different categories, and some data points are misread or poorly articulated, which hinders the clarity of the overview.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organised into paragraphs, which is a positive step. However, the logical progression is frequently interrupted by awkward phrasing and unclear transitions. The use of cohesive devices is mechanical and sometimes misused, such as 'after, that it slightly increased'. Referencing is often unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the comparison between the different activities over the twenty-year period. The overall structure is present but lacks the sophistication required for a higher band.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, with frequent errors in word choice and spelling (e.g., 'musicial perference', 'paricipate', 'interestel'). The student relies on basic terminology and struggles to use precise language to describe trends (e.g., 'sharply increase rose upto'). While the meaning is generally discernible, the lack of control over word forms and the high frequency of spelling errors significantly impact the quality of the writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains a high frequency of grammatical errors, including subject-verb agreement issues ('the number of the paricipate were 70'), incorrect tense usage, and fragmented sentence structures. There is a lack of complex sentence structures, and the errors often cause difficulty for the reader. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the use of capital letters and commas. The control of grammar is weak, and the frequent errors impede the flow of information.
