Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response covers all parts of the task by identifying main trends and providing data points for the activities. However, the overview is somewhat weak and contains inaccurate descriptions, such as claiming the graph shows a 'gradually maintain' trend, which is not supported by the data. While key features like the peak for table tennis and the decline of amateur dramatics are mentioned, the reporting of data is occasionally imprecise (e.g., '35 amount of people'). To reach a higher band, ensure the overview clearly highlights the most significant trends rather than describing the graph's appearance.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the information. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate, such as 'In addition , Amateure dramatics face a decline phase. however, Flim club maintain of consistency'. The transition between ideas is sometimes abrupt, and the logical progression is hindered by awkward phrasing. While there is an attempt to use linking words, they are not always used with sufficient flexibility or precision to ensure smooth flow throughout the response.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks precision and variety. There are several spelling errors (e.g., 'Flim', 'Amateure', 'stating') and word choice issues, such as 'amount of participants' instead of 'number of participants' and 'task' instead of 'activities'. The range is limited, and the student relies on basic descriptors. To improve, focus on using more precise terminology for describing trends, such as 'fluctuated', 'remained stable', or 'experienced a downward trend', and ensure accurate spelling of key terms.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains a mix of simple and some attempted complex structures, but grammatical control is inconsistent. There are frequent errors in subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'Flim club maintain of consistency'), article usage, and sentence construction (e.g., 'The line graph illustrates about the amount'). Punctuation is also problematic, with spaces before commas and inconsistent capitalization. While the meaning is generally clear, these persistent errors in basic grammar and sentence structure limit the score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and correct sentence formation will significantly improve the clarity of the writing.
