Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response covers all categories shown in the graph, but the analysis is inconsistent. While you identify the main trends, some data points are inaccurate or confusingly presented. For instance, you state that table tennis participants 'stopped participation by the year 2010', but the graph shows the line ending at 2010, which implies the data is missing or the activity ceased, yet your description lacks clarity. Additionally, the description of 'Amateur dramatics' contains some inaccuracies regarding the specific figures. To improve, ensure that you clearly distinguish between the trends and the specific data points, and double-check your reading of the graph axes to avoid misrepresenting the provided information.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly unnatural, such as 'In detailed' (should be 'In detail') and 'that is 20, 15 and 3 correspondingly'. The transition between sentences is occasionally abrupt, and the referencing of data points could be smoother. While the overall progression is clear, the lack of sophisticated linking words limits the flow. Using a wider variety of cohesive devices and ensuring they are used accurately would help improve the coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'dramatic elevation', 'significant decline', and 'gradual ups and down'. However, there are some issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'witness inclined number of candidates' and 'players' used for all activities, even though some are not sports. The phrase 'In detailed' is a grammatical error that also affects lexical precision. To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise vocabulary related to trends (e.g., 'fluctuated', 'plateaued') and ensure that your word choices are contextually appropriate for the specific activities described.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity, such as 'The Amateur dramatics the number of participants showed significant decline' and 'Martial arts witness inclined number of candidates'. Subject-verb agreement and preposition usage are inconsistent throughout the text. While the meaning is generally understandable, the frequency of these errors prevents the writing from reaching a higher band. Focusing on sentence construction, specifically ensuring that subjects and verbs agree and that articles are used correctly, will significantly enhance the accuracy of your writing.
