Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response covers the main features of the graph, such as the trends for the film club and table tennis. However, there are significant inaccuracies in the data reporting. For example, the text states the film club had 65 participants in 2000 and 67 in 2020, but the graph shows different values. Additionally, the time period is incorrectly identified as '2000 to 2001' in the introduction, despite the prompt stating 2000 to 2020. The summary of the amateur dramatics and martial arts is somewhat confusing, and the overall overview lacks clarity regarding the general trends across all categories. More precise data extraction and a clearer summary of the overall trends are needed to reach a higher band.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. Phrases like 'As it is clearly seen from the data that' are clunky, and the transition between sentences is sometimes abrupt. The referencing is occasionally unclear, such as the mention of 'all zones' and 'musical zone', which does not align well with the labels provided in the graph. While there is an attempt at logical progression, the lack of smooth transitions and some awkward phrasing hinder the overall flow of the response.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks precision and variety. There are several spelling errors, such as 'materail' instead of 'martial' and 'hadf12' which appears to be a typo. The range of vocabulary is limited, relying on basic descriptors like 'highest', 'rise', and 'fluctuation'. To improve, you should incorporate more precise reporting verbs and nouns related to data analysis, such as 'experienced a marginal increase' or 'remained relatively stable'. The repetition of 'members' and 'participants' also suggests a need for a wider range of synonyms to describe the data points.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains a mix of simple and some attempted complex structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'managed to had more members' (incorrect verb form), 'which were rise to to 67' (incorrect tense and structure), and 'amateur's group' (incorrect possessive usage). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with spacing around numbers and commas. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of errors in basic sentence construction and verb tense usage prevents the response from reaching a higher band score.
