Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
You have successfully identified the main trends and provided a clear overview of the data. You covered all categories (Film club, Martial arts, Amateur dramatics, Table tennis, and Musical performances) and made relevant comparisons, such as noting the decline in Amateur dramatics versus the rise in Table tennis. To reach a higher band, ensure your data reporting is more precise. For example, stating 'more than 10' or 'approximatley old position' is vague. Using specific figures from the graph, such as 'starting at 60' or 'peaking at 50', would demonstrate a more thorough analysis of the provided information.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The response is logically organized into an introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs. You use cohesive devices like 'In contrast', 'Furthermore', and 'Whereas' to link ideas. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and the flow between sentences could be smoother. For instance, the transition between the overview and the body paragraphs is clear, but the internal structure of the second body paragraph is a bit repetitive in its sentence construction. Improving the variety of linking phrases and ensuring that referencing (e.g., 'the former', 'the latter') is used more effectively would enhance the overall coherence.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'fluctuation', 'dominates', and 'dramatically'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'approximatley old position' and 'reported to had'. Additionally, some phrasing is slightly unnatural, such as 'started late' or 'joined in 2005 from bottom'. To improve, focus on using more precise academic collocations and ensure that your word forms are grammatically correct. Expanding your range of descriptive verbs and adverbs would also help you achieve a higher score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is appropriate for this task. However, there are several grammatical errors that occur throughout the text, such as 'the information of the number' (should be 'information on'), 'Martial art faced' (should be 'Martial arts'), and 'reported to had' (should be 'reported to have'). While these errors do not impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and correct verb tense usage will significantly improve your accuracy.
