Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response successfully covers all requirements of the task. You have identified the main features and trends, such as the stability of the film club and martial arts, the decline in amateur dramatics, and the growth in table tennis and musical performances. The overview is clear and provides a good summary of the data. You have made relevant comparisons between the activities throughout the report. To reach a higher band, ensure that all data points are described with complete accuracy; for instance, the film club figure in 2020 is slightly lower than in 2000, rather than being 'almost same'. Overall, the information is well-selected and effectively presented.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The response is logically organized with a clear introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs that group the activities effectively. You use cohesive devices such as 'In terms of', 'Similarly', 'In contrast', and 'Likewise' to guide the reader through the comparisons. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the different trends. While the flow is generally smooth, some transitions could be more sophisticated to avoid a slightly mechanical feel. The referencing is clear, and the progression of ideas from the general overview to specific details is logical and easy to follow.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey the information clearly. Phrases like 'downward trend', 'soared rapidly', and 'experienced a downward trend' are appropriate for describing data. However, there are some minor errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'people participation' (should be 'participation by people' or 'the number of people participating') and 'remained peak' (should be 'remained at a peak'). These errors do not impede communication, but they prevent the response from reaching a higher band. Expanding your range of synonyms for 'increase' and 'decrease' would further strengthen your writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is appropriate for this task. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'participated five different activities' (missing 'in'), 'it stood at almost same' (missing 'the'), and 'number of participant' (should be plural 'participants'). Additionally, there are some punctuation issues, such as the comma splice in 'number was almost same,in 2020'. While these errors are noticeable, they do not impede the reader's understanding of the data. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles and prepositions.
