Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The student summarizes key trends in the graph, but the report lacks clarity and comprehensive detail about the data. Some important information is missing, such as the exact figures for all years for each activity. While the general trends for the film club and table tennis are noted, other activities like martial arts and amateur dramatics are not clearly compared. Using phrases like "the next one is" helps transition between activities, but more succinct summaries with direct comparisons would strengthen the response.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The response has a basic structure, but coherence is lacking due to unclear phrasing and grammatical errors. Some sentences are difficult to follow, such as "then next is martial arts was at 37 in the year of 2000". This affects the overall flow of information. Better use of linking words (e.g., 'in contrast', 'additionally') could enhance readability and logical progression between points. The organization of information could be improved by grouping data more effectively, allowing readers to follow comparisons easily.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary choice is typically basic, with phrases like "is rise" (incorrect) and "it fell at 60 on 2010" which detracts from the formal tone needed for an academic report. Terms like "surged" and "rising up" could be replaced with more varied and precise language. Additionally, awkward phrasing such as "is also increased" reflects a limited lexical range. Strengthening the variety of vocabulary and ensuring correct usage will enhance clarity and professionalism in the response.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0
Grammatical accuracy is a notable weakness in this response. There are several errors, such as "the film club is rise in 2000" and inconsistent verb tenses (e.g., "was at 27 in year 2000 then it risen up"). Punctuation issues also affect readability; for example, unnecessary commas and an inconsistent approach to using articles (e.g., "the year of 2000"). A focus on grammar practice and sentence structure will help improve the overall quality of writing.
Overall feedback
You have made a good attempt at summarizing the data provided in the graph, but there are several areas for improvement. Focus on providing clearer descriptions of each activity's trends, using the correct vocabulary and grammatical structures. To improve task achievement, ensure that you provide complete and accurate details for each activity, make precise comparisons, and include transition words to enhance coherence. Pay attention to grammatical structures and aim for greater accuracy in phrasing. Practice writing with varied vocabulary to make your report more engaging. Lastly, maintaining clarity and precision in your statements will enhance the overall quality of your writing.
