Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response covers all categories shown in the graph, but the analysis is superficial and contains factual inaccuracies. For instance, you state that the film club remained at 65 from 2000 to 2020, whereas the graph shows a clear decline. Additionally, the overall summary is contradictory; you conclude that table tennis had the highest participation, yet your data description for the film club suggests it started at 65, which would make it the highest. The report lacks a clear overview of the main trends, and the selection of data points is inconsistent. To improve, focus on identifying the most significant trends (e.g., the steady decline of amateur dramatics versus the growth of table tennis) rather than listing every single data point.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the logical progression is weak. While you use some cohesive devices like 'Firstly', 'Secondly', and 'However', they are often used mechanically or to introduce information that does not follow a clear analytical path. The referencing is sometimes unclear, and the transition between sentences feels disjointed. The overall structure would benefit from a more logical grouping of trends—for example, grouping activities that increased versus those that decreased—rather than describing each activity in isolation. Paragraphing is present but does not effectively support the development of your ideas.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The range of vocabulary is limited and repetitive. You frequently use basic verbs like 'was', 'were', and 'increased'. There are also several spelling errors, such as 'malborne', 'asutralia', 'flim', and 'muscial', which detract from the professional tone required for an Academic Task 1. Phrases like 'it was seen a declination' are non-standard and awkward. To reach a higher band, you should incorporate more precise vocabulary for describing trends, such as 'fluctuated', 'remained stable', 'peaked', or 'experienced a downward trend', and ensure accurate spelling of proper nouns and technical terms.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response relies heavily on simple sentence structures. There are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'the individual participated were around 15') and article usage. Many sentences are poorly constructed, such as 'the muscial performance it was seen that in 2000 no member participated'. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with unnecessary spaces before commas and periods. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of errors in basic sentence construction limits the score. You should focus on mastering subject-verb agreement and using more complex sentence structures, such as relative clauses or participial phrases, to improve accuracy and flow.
