Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

The response effectively covers all key features of the graph. You have identified the main trends, such as the film club's dominance and the decline in amateur dramatics, and provided relevant data points for comparison. The overview is clear and sets the stage for the detailed body paragraphs. To reach a higher band, ensure that all data comparisons are precise; for instance, stating that table tennis 'surged to over 50%' is mathematically incorrect based on the graph, as it reached approximately 35-40 participants. Always double-check your data interpretation to ensure accuracy in your reporting.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The response is logically organized, with a clear introduction, an overview, and separate paragraphs for the different activities. The progression of ideas is easy to follow. You use a range of cohesive devices such as 'Overall', 'In 2000', 'With regard to', and 'Subsequently' to link your sentences and paragraphs effectively. The paragraphing is appropriate, and the information is presented in a structured manner. To improve, ensure that the transition between the overview and the body paragraphs is slightly more fluid, and avoid minor mechanical errors in referencing.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

You demonstrate a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey information clearly. Phrases like 'witnessed a downward trend', 'fluctuated considerably', and 'plummeted' are used appropriately and add variety to your writing. However, there are some minor inaccuracies, such as 'represents by far the largest number' (the club represents the activity, not the number) and 'remianed' (spelling error). To achieve a higher score, try to incorporate more precise collocations and ensure that your word choices are consistently accurate throughout the text.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is appropriate for this task. Most of your sentences are clear and easy to understand. There are some grammatical slips, such as 'the film club represents by far the largest number' (should be 'has the largest number') and 'albeit of significant fluctuations' (should be 'albeit with'). Additionally, there is a minor spelling error ('remianed'). While these errors do not impede communication, reducing their frequency through careful proofreading would help you move into the higher band range.
