Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response covers all categories shown in the graph, but the analysis is incomplete as the text ends abruptly mid-sentence. While you identify key trends such as the 'spike' in Musical performance and the 'massive hike' in Table Tennis, the reporting is somewhat mechanical, listing data points rather than synthesising the information. To reach a higher band, ensure you provide a clear overview of the main trends at the beginning and ensure the report is fully completed. The lack of a concluding summary or a complete final paragraph significantly impacts the overall task achievement.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often repetitive or mechanical (e.g., 'and then', 'in 2000', 'in 2005'). The transition between ideas is sometimes abrupt, and the final paragraph is incomplete, which disrupts the logical flow of the response. To improve, try using a wider variety of linking words and phrases to connect sentences and ideas more fluidly, and ensure that each paragraph has a clear, finished thought.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'participants', 'constant', 'decline', and 'spike'. However, there are several instances of awkward phrasing and word choice, such as 'having a 18 numbers of participants' and 'graph show a little hike'. Some vocabulary is used repetitively, and there are minor errors in word formation (e.g., 'particiapnt'). To improve, focus on using more precise collocations and varying your descriptive verbs to avoid repeating 'hike' or 'increase' throughout the text.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response relies heavily on simple sentence structures. While there are attempts at complex sentences, they often contain grammatical errors, such as 'there is a spike 10 to 11 participants participate' and 'Where other side people show their interest'. There are also frequent issues with subject-verb agreement and preposition usage. Punctuation is inconsistent, particularly with the use of commas and capitalisation. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction and ensuring that your verb tenses are consistent when describing past trends.
