Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the score. While you have identified some main features, the report is incomplete as it cuts off mid-sentence and fails to cover all the data categories shown in the graph. To improve, you must ensure you provide a complete summary of all trends and comparisons. The lack of a full analysis means the task is only partially addressed. You should aim to describe the trends for all activities mentioned in the chart to ensure a comprehensive overview.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay shows some attempt at logical organization, using an introductory sentence and an overview. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and occasionally inaccurate, such as the awkward use of 'While' and 'whereas' in the same sentence. Paragraphing is present, but the abrupt ending prevents a cohesive conclusion. To improve, focus on using transition signals more naturally and ensure that each paragraph flows logically into the next. The current structure is fragmented due to the incomplete nature of the response.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the precision and range required for higher bands. You used terms like 'upward trend', 'decline', and 'fluctuation', which are appropriate for describing graphs. However, there are errors in word choice and units, such as using '%' when the graph refers to the number of participants. To reach a higher band, try to incorporate more varied synonyms for 'increase' and 'decrease' and ensure that your data references are accurate and correctly labeled.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent errors in punctuation and grammar. For example, there are issues with comma usage, such as '2000,it slightly', and incorrect capitalization. The sentence '65 number participants' is grammatically awkward; it should be '65 participants'. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to lower the score. Focus on proofreading your work to correct basic punctuation and subject-verb agreement errors.
