Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response covers all five activities and provides a clear overview of the main trends. However, there are significant inaccuracies in the data reporting. For example, you state that amateur dramatics fell to 5 in 2000, whereas the graph shows this decline occurred by 2020. Similarly, you mention table tennis reached 55 in 2000, which contradicts the graph showing this figure for 2020. These errors in data interpretation prevent a higher score. While the main features are identified, the lack of precision in reporting the figures and years means the task is only partially addressed.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organised into three paragraphs, which is a logical structure for a report. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. Phrases like 'In the terms of' and 'In contrast martial art was mosly constant' are used to link ideas, but the flow is frequently interrupted by grammatical errors and awkward phrasing. Referencing is sometimes unclear, and the progression of ideas is hindered by the factual inaccuracies mentioned in the task achievement section. Paragraphing is present, but the internal cohesion within paragraphs needs improvement to ensure a smoother reading experience.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The range of vocabulary is limited and repetitive. You rely on basic verbs like 'start', 'go', and 'reach' throughout the text. There are also several spelling errors, such as 'participitant', 'dramitics', 'mosly', 'wrose', and 'stpped', which distract the reader. While you attempt to use some topic-specific vocabulary, the frequent spelling mistakes and the lack of variety in word choice limit the effectiveness of your communication. To improve, focus on using a wider range of synonyms for trends and ensure accurate spelling of key terms.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains a high frequency of grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. There are consistent issues with verb tenses ('slightly falled', 'wrose to stpped'), subject-verb agreement, and sentence structure. Many sentences are fragmented or lack necessary articles and prepositions. While there is an attempt to use complex structures, they are often faulty, such as 'In the terms of martial art in 2000 start at 37 and go to upward'. The control of basic grammar is inconsistent, and punctuation is frequently misused, particularly with the placement of periods within sentences.
