Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

The response effectively addresses the prompt by identifying the main trends and providing relevant comparisons. You successfully highlighted the dominance of the film club, the significant growth of table tennis, and the decline of amateur dramatics. The inclusion of data points to support these trends is accurate. To reach a higher band, ensure that the overview is even more distinct; while you have an 'overall' paragraph, it could be more analytical by grouping the activities by their trajectory (e.g., those that grew versus those that declined) rather than just listing them. Overall, the task is well-covered.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.5

The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs that group information effectively. The progression of ideas is smooth, and you use cohesive devices such as 'in contrast', 'over the next 10 years', and 'while' to link sentences. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the initial state from the subsequent changes. The flow is natural, and the information is easy to follow. To improve, ensure that referencing is always precise; for example, ensure that the transition between the overview and the specific data is seamless.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

You demonstrate a good range of vocabulary appropriate for a data-reporting task, using terms like 'dramatic increase', 'sharp decline', 'fluctuated', and 'surged'. These choices show an awareness of style and precision. There are a few minor errors, such as 'attendence' (spelling) and 'for higher than' (likely a typo for 'far higher than'). While the vocabulary is sufficient and precise enough for a high band, incorporating a few more sophisticated collocations or varied synonyms for 'participants' (e.g., 'attendees', 'individuals involved') would further enhance the lexical variety.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures effectively. Most of your sentences are error-free, and the grammar is generally accurate. There are some minor slips, such as 'martial arts was with 36 participants' (should be 'had 36 participants') and 'fell slightly a low of' (missing 'to'). These are minor and do not impede communication. To achieve a higher band, try to incorporate a wider variety of complex grammatical structures, such as passive voice or more varied subordinate clauses, to demonstrate greater flexibility in your writing.
