Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

You have successfully identified the main features of the graph, such as the dominance of the Film Club and the decline of Amateur Dramatics. You also made relevant comparisons between the activities. However, the response is slightly hampered by some inaccuracies in data reporting. For instance, you state that Martial Arts had 'the same 37 participants' in 2020 as in 2000, but the graph shows a slight variation. Additionally, the overview is a bit disjointed. To reach a higher band, ensure that your summary of trends is more precise and that you clearly distinguish between the overall trends and the specific data points used to support them.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your points. You use some cohesive devices like 'Furthermore' and 'Overall', but the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical. There are instances where the connection between ideas is slightly abrupt, such as the transition between the overview and the body paragraphs. Additionally, the referencing is occasionally unclear, particularly when discussing the trends for Table Tennis and Musical Performance. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence would enhance the overall coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'fluctuation', 'significant downfall', and 'gradual increase'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and minor errors, such as 'most number of participants' (should be 'highest number'), 'approximate of 37' (should be 'approximately 37'), and 'it had grew' (should be 'it grew'). While these errors do not impede communication, they limit the precision of your report. To improve, focus on using collocations correctly and refining your use of prepositions when describing data trends.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Examples include 'In Martial arts seen a fluctuation' (missing subject/verb agreement), 'it was droped' (spelling and passive voice error), and 'had their participant only from 2005' (awkward phrasing). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with some missing commas after introductory phrases. While these errors rarely prevent the reader from understanding your meaning, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. Focus on subject-verb agreement and consistent verb tense usage when describing past data.
