Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response covers all parts of the task, providing a clear overview and highlighting key trends for all five activities. You successfully identified the main features, such as the film club's dominance and the contrasting trends between amateur dramatics and table tennis. However, the analysis could be improved by ensuring data points are more precise; for example, stating 'nearly 65' is good, but ensure all figures are clearly linked to the specific years provided in the graph. The overview is present but could be more integrated to better highlight the overall 'story' of the data rather than just listing individual trends.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is logically organized into paragraphs, with a clear introduction, overview, and body paragraphs. You use some cohesive devices like 'Similarly' and 'Whereas' to connect ideas. However, the flow is occasionally hindered by mechanical phrasing and some awkward transitions between sentences. For instance, the transition 'Then, it increased gradually' is a bit simplistic. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of cohesive devices and ensuring that the progression of ideas within paragraphs is smoother and less repetitive in structure.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'fluctuated', 'accounted for', and 'recorded an increase'. However, there are several spelling errors (e.g., 'illusrates', 'partcipants', 'particiapnts', 'performaces') and some minor word choice issues, such as 'least interesting activity' (the graph shows participation, not interest). While these errors do not impede communication, they prevent the response from reaching a higher band. Focus on proofreading to eliminate these slips and try to incorporate more precise academic collocations.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is appropriate for this task. There are some grammatical errors, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('Musical performances was', 'the graph for martial art fluctuated thoughtout and reaching') and punctuation errors (missing spaces after periods). While these errors are noticeable, they do not prevent the reader from understanding the information. To improve, work on consistent subject-verb agreement and ensure that your complex sentences are punctuated correctly to enhance clarity and flow.
