The line graph shares data about the number of people attending in different kind of activities at a social center situated in Melbourne, Australia between the years of 2000 and 2020.
While the number of participants attending the film club remained more or less the same through out the whole period, almost 65 in the year 2000 to 65 again in 2020; amateur and table tennis participants showed drastic decrease and increase respectively. Both had 20 participants in 2010. Although, amateur dramatics started with a little more than 25 attendees in 2000, which slightly increased in 2005 but then gradually decreased, resulting in less than 10 members in 2020. Whereas, less than 20 participated in table tennis in 2000 which increased to 20 in 2005 remained unchanged in 2010. Afterwards, the trend showed a dramatic increase resulting in almost 40 players in 2015 and finally, more than 50 participants in 2020.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
You have successfully identified the main trends and provided a clear overview of the data. You covered all categories (film club, amateur dramatics, table tennis, martial arts, and musical performances) and made relevant comparisons, such as noting the intersection of amateur dramatics and table tennis in 2010. To reach a higher band, ensure your overview is more distinct; currently, it is integrated into the first paragraph. A separate, concise overview paragraph highlighting the most significant trends (e.g., the contrast between the stability of the film club and the growth of table tennis) would improve the structure and clarity of your response.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The response is logically organized, with each paragraph focusing on specific activities. You use a range of cohesive devices such as 'while,' 'although,' 'whereas,' and 'afterwards' to link ideas effectively. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and the paragraphing could be improved by grouping the activities more strategically—perhaps by those that increased versus those that decreased. The referencing is generally clear, though the flow between sentences in the third paragraph is a bit repetitive due to the frequent use of 'increased' and 'decreased' in a similar structure.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate a sufficient range of vocabulary to describe trends, such as 'drastic decrease,' 'gradually decreased,' and 'remained unchanged.' There are some minor inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'different kind of activities' (should be 'kinds') and 'previous numbers of the year 2000' (which is slightly wordy). While you use some less common items, the vocabulary is generally functional rather than sophisticated. To improve, try to vary your reporting verbs and nouns to avoid repeating 'increased' and 'decreased' so frequently throughout the text.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, such as the use of 'Although' and 'While' to create subordinate clauses. There are some grammatical errors, such as 'almost 65 in the year 2000 to 65 again in 2020' (missing a verb) and 'different kind of activities' (pluralization error). Additionally, there is a punctuation error in the second paragraph: 'Although, amateur dramatics started...'—the comma after 'Although' is unnecessary. Despite these errors, the meaning is always clear, and the mistakes do not impede communication.
