The graph below demonstrates the information on the number of individuals for various activities at one social center in Melbourne, Australia in the time period between 2000 to 2020.
Overall, the graph illustrates that number of participants differs slightly with the passage of time.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response covers all key features of the graph, including the trends for each activity. You have successfully identified the main features, such as the decline in amateur dramatics and the emergence of musical performances. However, the report is somewhat mechanical, listing data points rather than synthesising the information into a more analytical summary. To reach a higher band, ensure you group data more effectively to highlight trends and comparisons, rather than simply listing figures chronologically for each category. The overview is present but could be more descriptive regarding the overall shifts in participation levels across the centre.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The response is logically organised, with each paragraph focusing on specific activities. You use some cohesive devices like 'whereas', 'on the other hand', and 'in the year 2000', which help the reader follow the progression. However, the transitions between sentences can feel a bit repetitive, and the paragraphing could be more balanced. The final paragraph is quite short compared to the body paragraph. Improving the use of referencing and varying your linking phrases would enhance the flow and make the connections between the data points more sophisticated.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'demonstrates', 'experienced a major loss', and 'comprised of'. However, there are some minor inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'range of public' (which is not a standard collocation) and 'contestants' (which is better suited for competitions rather than social activities). To improve, try to use more precise reporting verbs and nouns related to data trends, such as 'fluctuated', 'plummeted', or 'a marginal increase'. The vocabulary is sufficient to convey the meaning clearly but lacks the flexibility and precision required for higher bands.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is appropriate for this task. There are some grammatical errors, such as 'whereas rises by the year 2020' (should be 'whereas it rose') and 'declined by approximately 28 by reaching' (which is slightly awkward). Additionally, there are minor issues with prepositions and article usage, such as 'in the time period between 2000 to 2020' (should be 'between 2000 and 2020'). While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focus on subject-verb agreement and consistent tense usage when describing past data.
