Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response covers the main features of the graph, including the trends for the various activities. However, there are significant inaccuracies in the data reporting. For instance, you state that 66% of people participated in the Film club in 2000, whereas the graph indicates a lower figure. Furthermore, the description of the trends is sometimes confusing, such as the claim that Amateur dramatics 'suddenly decline to only 4%' without clear context. While you identify the main trends, the lack of precision in data interpretation and some contradictory statements hinder the overall clarity of the report. To improve, ensure that data points are read accurately from the axes and that comparisons are logically structured.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the logical progression is occasionally disrupted by awkward phrasing and mechanical use of cohesive devices. For example, the transition 'Onward from 2010' is slightly unnatural, and the connection between sentences within paragraphs is sometimes weak. While there is an attempt to use linking words like 'Meanwhile' and 'In contrast', the overall flow is inconsistent. Improving the use of referencing and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear thematic focus would enhance the coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The range of vocabulary is adequate for the task, but there are frequent errors in word choice and collocation that occasionally impede communication. Phrases like 'recorded the least figure' and 'latter in the late time' are unnatural. You attempt to use descriptive verbs such as 'fluctuated' and 'substantially', which is positive, but these are often paired with incorrect grammatical structures. To reach a higher band, focus on learning common collocations used in data reporting, such as 'reached a peak of' or 'experienced a sharp decline', and ensure that your word forms are accurate.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'Film club is attract'), incorrect verb tenses (e.g., 'Table tennis is steadily start'), and misuse of articles and prepositions. These errors are noticeable and occasionally make the meaning difficult to follow. While the attempt to use complex structures is evident, the lack of control over basic grammar limits the score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and consistent tense usage would significantly improve your accuracy.
