Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response covers all parts of the task by identifying the main trends and making relevant comparisons. You successfully highlighted the dominance of the Film club and the contrasting trends between Amateur dramatics and Table tennis. However, the analysis could be improved by being more precise with data points. For instance, stating 'negligible participants' for Amateur dramatics in 2020 is a good observation, but providing specific figures for the start and end points of all categories would strengthen the report. The overview is clear, but ensure that all comparisons are supported by specific data from the graph to reach a higher band.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, overview, and body paragraphs focusing on specific trends. You use some cohesive devices like 'While', 'However', and 'Similarly' to link ideas. However, the flow is occasionally hindered by mechanical phrasing, such as 'Similar trend can be seen in the Martial arts which was second most popular activity in initial years'. The use of referencing could be more sophisticated to avoid repetitive sentence structures. Overall, the progression of ideas is clear, but the transition between sentences could be smoother to improve the cohesion of the report.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, such as 'illustrates', 'negligible', and 'gradually'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'at the first ranked activity' instead of 'the top-ranked activity' and 'stating years' instead of 'starting years'. Additionally, 'most participated activity' is grammatically incorrect; 'most popular activity' or 'activity with the highest participation' would be more natural. To improve, focus on using more precise collocations related to data description and trends.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors that affect the fluency of the text. Examples include 'interested in to took part in', 'number of participants were losing', and 'every year number of participants were growing'. These errors in subject-verb agreement and preposition usage are noticeable. To achieve a higher band, you need to demonstrate more control over complex structures and ensure that your verb tenses and pluralization are consistently accurate throughout the report.
