Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

You have identified the main trends for the activities, such as the growth in table tennis and the decline in amateur dramatics. However, the response lacks a clear overview, which is essential for a Band 7 or higher. Your description of the data is sometimes inaccurate; for example, you state the film club reached a peak of 65 in 2020, but the graph shows it was higher in 2010. Additionally, the report ends abruptly without completing the description of musical performances. To improve, ensure you provide a concise summary of the overall trends in the introduction and verify your data points against the graph more carefully.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The response is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the information. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and occasionally repetitive. Phrases like 'Going further' and 'In addition to all these activities' are used, but the logical flow between sentences is sometimes disjointed. The transition between the description of different clubs could be smoother. To improve, try to group related trends together—for example, grouping declining activities versus increasing ones—and use a wider variety of linking words to connect your ideas more naturally.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You have a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey the main points, such as 'marginally decreased', 'drastic increase', and 'dramatic fall'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'participants member' (should be 'membership' or 'number of participants') and 'highest performed activity' (which is not standard usage). Some phrasing is slightly awkward, such as 'first half decade'. To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise collocations and ensure that your vocabulary is used in the correct grammatical context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors that occur throughout the text, such as 'for over two decade' (should be 'decades'), 'the players were lesser in number' (should be 'fewer'), and 'musical performances didn't have any performers till the first half decade' (incomplete sentence). While these errors do not typically impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. Focus on subject-verb agreement and pluralisation to improve your accuracy.
