Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

You have successfully identified the main trends and provided a clear overview of the data. You covered all categories and made relevant comparisons, such as noting the shift in popularity between the martial arts and table tennis clubs. However, there is some repetition between the second and third paragraphs, where you restate the fluctuations of the film club and martial arts class. To improve, ensure that the overview highlights the most significant trends without repeating the specific data points that should be reserved for the body paragraphs. Overall, the response is well-structured and addresses the prompt effectively.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The response is logically organized with a clear introduction, overview, and body paragraphs. You use cohesive devices such as 'In terms of', 'As regards', and 'however' to guide the reader. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate different categories. While the flow is generally good, some transitions between sentences feel slightly mechanical. To reach a higher band, focus on varying your cohesive devices and ensuring that the progression of ideas is smoother, particularly when moving between the different clubs in the body paragraphs.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey information clearly, using terms like 'fluctuated', 'surpassing', and 'steady decline'. There are some minor issues with word choice, such as 'experienced the significant rise' (should be 'a significant rise') and 'than its attendance' (should be 'then'). While you use some topic-specific vocabulary, incorporating more sophisticated collocations or synonyms for 'increase' and 'decrease' would enhance your score. The vocabulary is generally accurate and appropriate for an academic report.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is appropriate for this task. Most of your sentences are clear and easy to follow. There are a few grammatical slips, such as 'between 2000 to 2005' (should be 'between 2000 and 2005') and the aforementioned 'than' instead of 'then'. Punctuation is generally accurate, though some sentences could be refined for better flow. To improve, focus on ensuring consistent tense usage and correcting minor prepositional errors to increase the number of error-free sentences.
