Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the score. Furthermore, the content is incomplete; you have only described two of the five categories shown in the graph. The overview is missing, and the data selection is insufficient to provide a clear summary of the main features or trends. To improve, you must ensure all categories are addressed, include a clear overview of the main trends, and provide a more comprehensive analysis of the data to meet the length requirement.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The organization is fragmented. The use of paragraphing is ineffective, and the transition between sentences is often abrupt or missing. While there are some attempts at cohesive devices like 'After that' and 'moreover', they are used mechanically and do not create a logical flow of information. The lack of a clear structure makes the report difficult to follow. To improve, focus on using linking words to connect ideas and ensure that each paragraph has a clear purpose, such as grouping related trends together.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is quite limited and repetitive. You rely on basic descriptors such as 'rose' and 'decreased', and there are issues with word choice, such as 'did the zig zag', which is not appropriate for an academic report. There are also errors in terminology, such as referring to the categories as 'in Australia' rather than identifying them as the specific activities. To improve, aim to use more precise academic vocabulary to describe trends, such as 'fluctuated', 'remained stable', or 'peaked'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. There are issues with article usage ('the film club', 'the almost 35'), incorrect preposition use, and sentence fragments (e.g., 'After analysing the paragraph . it can be seen clearly.'). The sentence structures are predominantly simple, and there is a lack of complex grammatical forms. To improve, focus on basic sentence construction, subject-verb agreement, and the correct use of articles. Proofreading for punctuation errors, such as the misplaced periods, is also essential.
