Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
You have successfully identified the main features of the graph and provided a clear overview. You covered all five activities and made relevant comparisons, such as noting the film club's stability versus the table tennis growth. However, there are some inaccuracies in data reporting. For instance, you stated the film club remained stable at 64, but the graph shows a slight decline, and your description of musical performances is confusing, as you mention 'no number of candidates' in 2005. To reach a higher band, ensure that data points are read with greater precision and that trends are described more accurately to reflect the visual evidence provided.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The response is logically organized with a clear introduction, overview, and body paragraphs. You use some cohesive devices such as 'while,' 'in addition,' and 'however' to link ideas. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and the paragraphing could be improved by grouping the trends more effectively (e.g., grouping increasing trends versus decreasing or stable ones). Referencing is generally clear, but the transition between the description of table tennis and musical performances feels slightly abrupt. Improving the variety of linking words would help the text flow more naturally.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'participated,' 'fluctuated,' and 'increased gradually.' There are some minor issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'social center lack musical performances' (should be 'lacked') and 'no number of candidates.' While you attempt to use some less common vocabulary, the phrasing is occasionally repetitive or slightly unnatural. To improve, focus on using more precise reporting verbs and nouns, such as 'remained constant' instead of 'remained stable' or 'experienced a sharp rise' rather than 'rose sharply.'
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement and articles. For example, 'number of participants... were 64' should be 'was 64,' and 'in year 2000' should be 'in the year 2000.' Additionally, some sentences are slightly awkward, such as 'their participations started from year 2005.' These errors do not impede communication, but they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on consistent verb tense usage and article placement will significantly improve your accuracy.
