Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
You have successfully identified the main features and trends of the graph. You provided a clear overview and supported your points with relevant data from the chart. However, there are some inaccuracies in your reporting. For instance, you stated that musical performances had 'no people at all' in 2000, but the graph shows a starting point of approximately 5. Additionally, you mentioned that table tennis 'peaked around 50 people', whereas the graph indicates it reached approximately 40. Accuracy in data reporting is crucial for a higher band score. Ensure you double-check your readings against the axes to avoid misrepresenting the information provided.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The response is logically organized with a clear introduction, overview, and body paragraphs that group information by activity. You use a variety of cohesive devices such as 'In contrast', 'Similarly', and 'throughout the period' to link ideas effectively. The progression of information is generally smooth, though the transition between the second and third body paragraphs could be slightly more refined. Overall, the paragraphing is appropriate, and the information is easy to follow, meeting the requirements for a coherent response.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey information clearly, using terms like 'plateaued', 'fluctuation', 'downward trend', and 'surpassed'. There are some minor errors in word choice, such as 'marital arts' instead of 'martial arts'. While you attempt to use less common vocabulary, some collocations are slightly unnatural. To improve, focus on using more precise academic vocabulary and ensure correct spelling of key terms. The range is adequate for the task, but further precision would elevate the score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is good. There are some grammatical slips, such as 'the musical performances had increased' (should be 'have increased' or 'increased') and 'the marital arts was' (should be 'martial arts were'). Additionally, there are minor issues with articles, such as 'the amateur dramatics' and 'the table tennis', where the definite article is often unnecessary. Despite these errors, your meaning is always clear, and the errors do not impede communication.
