The line graph illustrates the number of participants in five different activities at a particular location between 2000 and 2020.

Overall, the film club remained the most popular activity throughout the period, while table tennis experienced the most significant growth. In contrast, participation in amateur dramatics declined considerably. Musical performances also became more popular after 2005.

In 2000, approximately 64 people participated in the film club, making it the most popular activity. This figure decreased slightly to 60 in 2010 before rising to around 66 in 2020. The number of people attending martial arts was 36 in 2000. It fell to 32 in 2005, then increased to 38 in 2010 and finished at about 36 in 2020.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

You have successfully identified the main features and trends of the graph. The overview is clear, highlighting the most popular activity and the most significant growth. You have also made relevant comparisons, such as noting the 'opposite trend' between amateur dramatics and table tennis. The data is accurately reported, and you have covered all five categories provided in the prompt. To reach a higher band, ensure that you consistently group data logically rather than listing each category sequentially, which can sometimes feel like a mechanical reporting of figures rather than an analytical summary.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.5

The response is logically organized with a clear introduction, an overview, and body paragraphs that group the data effectively. You use a range of cohesive devices such as 'In contrast', 'However', and 'Finally' to guide the reader through the information. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the different trends. The progression of ideas is clear, and the referencing is consistent throughout the text. The flow is smooth, and the structure supports the reader's understanding of the data without any confusion.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

You demonstrate a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey the information with precision. Phrases like 'experienced the most significant growth', 'declined considerably', and 'increased sharply' are well-chosen and appropriate for an academic report. There is a good level of flexibility in your word choice, and you avoid repetitive phrasing. While the vocabulary is accurate and fits the context well, incorporating a few more sophisticated collocations or topic-specific synonyms could elevate the response further toward the higher band descriptors.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 7.0

Your grammar is generally accurate, and you use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures effectively. Most of your sentences are error-free, and the punctuation is handled correctly. You demonstrate good control over tense usage, which is essential for describing historical data. There are no significant grammatical errors that impede communication. To achieve a higher score, you could experiment with more varied complex sentence structures, such as using participle clauses or more advanced subordinating conjunctions to link your observations more fluidly.
