IELTS Writing Task 1 question

The graph below gives information on the numbers of participants for different activities at one social centre in Melbourne, Australia for the period 2000 to 2020.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

 

 

Student answer (Band 6.0)

The given graph illustrates data from a social centre in Melbourne, Australia and depicts the proportion of participants participating in different activities namely: Film club, Martial arts, Amateur dramatics, Table tennis and Musical performances from 2000 to 2020 respectively.

Overall, Most amount of participation is seen in the film club and remained significantly high throughout the span of 20 years. Amateur dramatic category kept declining after 2005 and by 2020 it had least amount of participation.

In terms of totality, Film club activity had the highest amount of participation around 65 members. Martial arts category also maintained a stable graph and only increased in 2010 by 40 members which initially started with around 38 members participating. Table tennis started with very low amount of people participating around 15 people but experianced a spike after 2010 and by 2020 it had more than 55 members.
