Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
You have identified the main trends, such as the decline in amateur dramatics and the growth in table tennis. However, the response lacks precision in reporting data. For example, stating 'approximately between 60-70' is vague, and 'around 0 or more less' is confusing. You need to select key figures more accurately from the graph to support your summary. While you covered all categories, the analysis is somewhat superficial. To improve, ensure you provide clear comparisons between the activities rather than just listing their individual trends. The overview is present but could be more effectively integrated to highlight the most significant changes over the twenty-year period.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate, such as 'Continuing with it' and 'After analysis the graph'. These transitions do not always flow naturally. Additionally, the referencing is sometimes unclear, and the progression of ideas within paragraphs feels disjointed. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and phrases that connect your sentences and ideas more logically, ensuring that each paragraph has a clear focus and that the transition between them is smooth.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The range of vocabulary is limited and repetitive. You frequently use basic verbs like 'growing' and 'decline' without much variation. There are also errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'decline wrostly' (which is also a spelling error) and 'become up and down'. These errors occasionally make the meaning slightly unclear. To improve, try to incorporate more precise academic vocabulary to describe trends, such as 'fluctuated', 'surged', or 'plummeted'. Expanding your range of synonyms for 'increase' and 'decrease' will help you avoid repetition and demonstrate a better command of the language.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, particularly with verb tenses and subject-verb agreement. For instance, you wrote 'the given graph illustrate' instead of 'illustrates', and 'we can clearly saw' instead of 'we can clearly see'. These errors are persistent and sometimes distract the reader. While you attempt some complex structures, they are often faulty. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically ensuring that your subjects and verbs agree and that you use the correct tense when describing past data. Proofreading for these common errors will significantly improve your score.
