Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

You have successfully identified the main trends and provided a clear overview of the data. You covered all categories (Film club, Martial arts, Amateur dramatics, Table tennis, and Musical performances) and made relevant comparisons. However, the description of the data is occasionally imprecise. For example, stating that the Film club 'marginally showed by 65 participants' is unclear, and the description of the Table tennis trend as 'stopped at the same level' is slightly awkward. To improve, ensure that your descriptions of trends (e.g., 'substantially grew') are backed by more accurate data points from the graph to ensure the reader can clearly visualize the changes.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, with a clear introduction, body paragraphs for specific data, and an overall summary. The use of cohesive devices like 'In 2000', 'While', and 'On the other hand' helps guide the reader through the information. However, some transitions feel a bit mechanical, and the referencing is occasionally repetitive (e.g., starting multiple sentences with 'started with'). To reach a higher band, try to vary your linking phrases and ensure that the progression of ideas within paragraphs flows more naturally rather than just listing data points one after another.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'competitors', 'fluctuated', 'dramatically', and 'modestly'. However, there are some issues with word choice and collocation. For instance, 'showed up with' is informal and not suitable for an academic report, and 'competitors' is used where 'participants' would be more appropriate given the context of a social centre. Additionally, some phrasing is slightly unnatural, such as 'marginally showed by'. Expanding your repertoire of reporting verbs and adverbs would help you achieve a more precise and academic tone.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is appropriate for this task. There are some grammatical errors, such as 'Film club was the most popular activity started with 65 participants' (which lacks a relative pronoun) and 'Musical performances started with zero members in 2000 to 2005' (which is slightly confusing). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are minor issues with sentence construction that occasionally hinder the flow. To improve, focus on ensuring that your complex sentences are grammatically complete and that your use of prepositions and verb tenses is consistent throughout the report.
