Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
You have successfully identified the main features of the graph, including the trends for each activity. You provided a clear overview and supported your points with data from the graph. However, the analysis of the data is sometimes slightly inaccurate or confusing. For example, stating that Table Tennis 'stopped at the same level' between 2005 and 2010 is a bit vague, and the description of Musical performances as having 'zero members in 2000 to 2005' is slightly imprecise as the graph shows a start point. To reach a higher band, ensure that your data reporting is precise and that you make more direct comparisons between the categories rather than just listing them individually.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The response is logically organized into paragraphs, with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and an overall summary. You use some cohesive devices such as 'While', 'Overall', and 'On the other hand' to link ideas. However, the progression within paragraphs could be smoother. Some sentences feel like a list of facts rather than a cohesive analysis. The referencing is generally clear, but the flow between sentences could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words to show the relationship between the different activities more effectively.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'fluctuated', 'steadily rose', and 'substantially grew'. There are some minor inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'contestants' (which is better suited for a competition than a social club) and 'begin' (should be 'began' for past tense). While you attempt to use some less common vocabulary, the overall range is somewhat limited. To improve, focus on using more precise collocations related to data trends, such as 'a marginal recovery' or 'a significant surge'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, particularly with verb tenses and subject-verb agreement, such as 'Table tennis begin' instead of 'began' and 'while ended' instead of 'while it ended'. Punctuation is generally acceptable, but there are some minor errors in sentence construction. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focus on ensuring consistency in your tense usage when describing past data.
