Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, reaching only 92 words. Consequently, the task is only partially addressed. The overview is underdeveloped, and the description of the data is incomplete, as the response stops abruptly mid-sentence. Key features such as trends over the full 20-year period are not adequately covered, and the comparison between activities is minimal. To improve, you must ensure you describe all categories shown in the graph and provide a clear, comprehensive summary of the main trends and significant changes over the entire timeframe provided in the prompt.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The response lacks a clear logical progression. While there is an attempt at an overview, the paragraphing is ineffective, and the text ends abruptly, which disrupts the flow of information. Cohesive devices are either missing or used incorrectly, such as the awkward transition 'it will be shortly discouss about'. The lack of a concluding sentence or a complete body paragraph makes the structure feel fragmented. To improve, focus on using clear linking words (e.g., 'In contrast', 'Furthermore', 'Subsequently') to connect your ideas and ensure each paragraph has a clear purpose and is fully developed.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and repetitive. There are several spelling errors, such as 'perion' (period), 'propotion' (proportion), 'discouss' (discuss), 'perfomance' (performance), and 'atrs' (arts). The word choice is often imprecise, such as using 'candidate' to refer to participants. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to convey the data accurately. To improve, you should learn topic-specific vocabulary for describing graphs, such as 'fluctuated', 'remained stable', 'peaked', and 'experienced a downward trend', and proofread your work carefully to eliminate basic spelling mistakes.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are issues with punctuation, such as missing spaces after commas and lack of capitalization at the start of sentences. Sentence structures are simple and often incomplete, such as the final sentence which trails off. There is a lack of control over basic grammar, including subject-verb agreement and article usage (e.g., 'at social centre'). To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring every sentence has a clear subject and verb, and practicing the correct use of articles and prepositions.
