Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response attempts to summarize the graph but fails to provide a clear overview of the main trends. The description of the data is often inaccurate or vague, such as claiming the musical performance had no candidates at the beginning when the graph shows otherwise. The report lacks a clear selection of key features; instead, it provides fragmented observations that do not effectively compare the activities. The information is not fully developed, and the lack of precision in reporting figures (e.g., 'direct 60') hinders the reader's understanding of the trends. To improve, focus on identifying the most significant changes and using data points to support those observations accurately.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical progression is weak. The use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or misused, such as 'At first stage' and 'In the following stage,' which do not accurately reflect the timeline of the graph. Referencing is sometimes unclear, and the transition between ideas feels disjointed. The overview is not clearly separated from the body paragraphs, which affects the overall structure. To improve, use a wider variety of linking words and ensure that each paragraph has a clear focus, such as grouping activities by their trends (e.g., those that increased versus those that decreased).
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and often imprecise. There are several instances of word-choice errors, such as 'candidate' instead of 'participants' and 'propotion' (spelling error). Phrases like 'very less participants' and 'quite role' are non-standard and impede clarity. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to describe trends effectively; for example, instead of 'losing its participants,' more precise academic language like 'experienced a downward trend' or 'declined' should be used. Improving your range of collocations related to data description will significantly enhance your score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally cause difficulty for the reader. There are issues with subject-verb agreement ('it didnt had'), article usage, and sentence structure. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing spaces after commas and incorrect capitalization. While there is an attempt to use complex structures, they are often faulty, such as 'it will be shortly discouss about the activities.' The majority of sentences contain errors, which prevents the response from reaching a higher band. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for common errors will help improve accuracy.
