Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response covers the main features of the graph, including the trends for the various activities. However, there are inaccuracies in the data reporting. For instance, you state the period is 2000 to 2010, but the graph covers 2000 to 2020. Additionally, you mention the Film club remained constant at 65, whereas the graph shows fluctuations. The description of the 'drastic' decline for amateur dramatics is accurate, but the overall summary lacks a clear, comparative overview of the data trends. To reach a higher band, ensure data points are cited precisely and the overview synthesizes the information rather than just listing details.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The response is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the information. You use some cohesive devices such as 'To begin', 'Moving further', and 'Overall'. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly unnatural, such as 'At last' to introduce a new point. The progression of ideas is generally clear, but the referencing within sentences could be smoother. For example, the transition between the description of table tennis and martial arts could be improved to better link the comparison of trends.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing you to describe trends like 'drastic increase' and 'remained constant'. However, there are some word choice errors and awkward phrasing, such as 'count of participants in various endeavors' and 'players' used for activities like the Film club, where 'members' or 'participants' would be more appropriate. You attempt some less common vocabulary, but the precision is inconsistent. To improve, focus on using more academic collocations and ensuring that the terminology matches the context of the data provided.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'which were 20 players till 2010' (should be 'which rose to 20'), '26 and 28 player' (missing plural 's'), and 'which drastic decline' (missing verb). While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding the main points, they are frequent enough to impact the flow. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of relative clauses to ensure your complex sentences are error-free.
