Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response covers the main features of the graph, but the analysis is inconsistent and contains factual inaccuracies. For example, you state the Film club had 64 members in 2000 and 66 in 2010, which does not align with the visual data. Furthermore, the time period is incorrectly identified in the introduction as 2000–2010, whereas the graph covers 2000–2020. While you attempt to highlight trends like the decline in Amateur dramatics and the rise in Table tennis, the lack of precision in reporting data points and the confusion regarding the timeline prevent a higher score. To improve, ensure you carefully read the axes and legend before drafting your summary.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay lacks a clear logical structure. Paragraphing is fragmented, with several single-sentence paragraphs that disrupt the flow of information. While there are some attempts at cohesive devices (e.g., 'In addition', 'However'), they are often used mechanically or incorrectly. The progression of ideas is disjointed, making it difficult for the reader to follow the comparison of trends over time. To improve, group related activities together in distinct paragraphs and use transition words to link sentences more naturally, ensuring that each paragraph has a clear focus.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is generally limited and repetitive. You rely on basic verbs like 'showed', 'rise', and 'decline' throughout the text. There are also errors in word formation and spelling, such as 'Musical Performan', 'membera', and 'Wheather'. While the meaning is generally clear, the range of vocabulary is insufficient to demonstrate the flexibility required for higher bands. To improve, try to incorporate more varied reporting verbs and nouns related to trends, such as 'fluctuated', 'peaked', 'remained stable', or 'a marginal increase'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. There are issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'it increase 18 members'), incorrect tense usage (e.g., 'that will end in 66 members'), and missing articles or prepositions. Sentence structures are mostly simple, and attempts at complex sentences are often faulty, such as the fragmented sentence starting with 'Musical Performan'. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring consistent verb tenses when describing past data, and proofreading for common errors like pluralization and missing articles.
