Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
You have successfully identified the main features and trends of the graph. You provided a clear overview and supported your points with relevant data. However, there are some inaccuracies in your reporting of the timeline. You stated the period was 2000 to 2010 in the introduction, but the graph covers 2000 to 2020. Additionally, you mentioned that the film club remained stable until 2010, but the data shows it remained stable until 2020. These inconsistencies in data interpretation slightly affect the accuracy of your summary. To improve, ensure that your data points strictly align with the provided visual information.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The response is logically organized with a clear introduction, overview, and body paragraphs. You use cohesive devices such as 'Similarly', 'Meanwhile', and 'Overall' to guide the reader through the information. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and the paragraphing could be more refined. For instance, the transition between the overview and the body paragraphs is clear, but the internal structure of the body paragraphs could benefit from more varied linking phrases to improve the flow between sentences. Overall, the progression of ideas is clear and easy to follow.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'substantially', 'negligible', 'fluctuations', and 'surge'. These choices help convey the trends effectively. There are some minor issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'participants number' instead of 'number of participants' and 'account for the highest number of attendees' which is slightly redundant. While you successfully use some less common vocabulary, there are occasional errors that prevent a higher score. Expanding your range of synonyms for 'increase' and 'decrease' would further enhance your writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical slips, such as 'in all the activities number of participants have increased' (missing articles and subject-verb agreement) and 'participants remain stable though all these years' (should be 'through'). Additionally, 'reported to have same 39' is missing an article. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher band. Focusing on article usage and consistent verb tense application will help improve your accuracy.
