Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response identifies the main trends for the five activities, but the analysis is somewhat superficial. While you mention the film club and musical performance, the descriptions lack precision regarding the data points (e.g., specific years or values). The overview is missing; a Band 6 or higher requires a clear summary of the overall trends. Furthermore, some descriptions are inaccurate, such as stating the film club participants 'remain same' when the graph shows fluctuations. To improve, ensure you highlight the most significant changes and provide a clear overview paragraph that synthesizes the main features rather than just listing activities one by one.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The response is organized into paragraphs, which is a positive step. However, the progression of ideas is somewhat mechanical. The use of cohesive devices is limited and occasionally repetitive (e.g., 'After that', 'In...'). The transition between sentences feels like a list rather than a cohesive report. To improve, use a wider variety of linking words and ensure that each paragraph has a clear focus. Referencing is sometimes unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the comparison between different activities effectively.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but remains quite basic and repetitive. Phrases like 'number of participants' are used repeatedly, and there are some awkward collocations, such as 'people were not take interest'. You attempt to use descriptive words like 'impressive', but these are subjective and not appropriate for an academic report. To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise vocabulary related to trends, such as 'fluctuated', 'peaked', 'remained stable', or 'experienced a significant decline', and avoid informal or evaluative language.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('the participant are remain same', 'the number of participants are increasing') and tense inconsistencies. The sentence structures are predominantly simple, with limited attempts at complex sentences. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage. To improve, focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement and ensure that your verb tenses are consistent when describing past data. Incorporating more complex sentence structures, such as relative clauses, would also help improve your score.
