Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the ability to fully develop the response. While the main features are identified, the description is incomplete, particularly regarding the final data points and the overall comparison. The analysis is under-developed, and the conclusion is cut off mid-sentence. To improve, ensure all data trends are fully described and the response reaches the required length to allow for a comprehensive summary of the provided graph.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The response uses basic paragraphing, but the flow is hindered by the incomplete nature of the text. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Overall' and 'On the other hand', but they are somewhat mechanical. The progression of ideas is logical, but the abrupt ending disrupts the overall coherence of the report. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that each paragraph has a clear, complete structure that guides the reader through the data trends effectively.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The range of vocabulary is limited and repetitive. Phrases like 'shifted upward' and 'numbers of participants' are used repeatedly, which lacks the precision expected at higher bands. There are also errors in word choice, such as 'superlative' (which is not appropriate for describing a data point) and 'remaining activities' (which should be 'the remaining activities'). To improve, incorporate more precise reporting verbs and nouns, such as 'fluctuated', 'peaked', 'experienced a decline', and 'the majority of'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains several grammatical errors that affect clarity. Examples include 'how many people participates' (subject-verb agreement), 'between 2000 to 2020' (incorrect preposition usage), and 'at it has been gained' (redundant 'at'). Sentence structures are mostly simple, with limited attempts at complex sentences. There are also issues with tense consistency, as the response mixes present and past tenses when describing historical data. Improving control over verb tenses and subject-verb agreement is essential for a higher score.
