Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response covers the main features of the graph, such as the trends for the film club and amateur dramatics. However, the overview is weak; it lists the categories rather than identifying the significant trends or overall patterns. The description of the data is sometimes inaccurate or confusing, such as stating the film club had '79 participants' when the graph shows a different figure, and the description of martial arts as 'increasing and reducing' is vague. To improve, you should focus on clearly identifying the highest and lowest points and the most significant changes over the period, ensuring the data cited matches the visual information provided.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the logical progression is hindered by awkward phrasing and a lack of clear cohesive devices. Transitions between sentences are often abrupt or missing, making the text feel like a list of observations rather than a cohesive report. For example, the transition 'If we take a look to the table tennis record' is informal and clunky. While there is an attempt to group information, the lack of sophisticated linking words makes the flow of ideas disjointed. Improving the use of cohesive devices like 'consequently', 'in contrast', or 'meanwhile' would significantly enhance the readability of your report.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and often repetitive. There are several instances of awkward word choices, such as 'most highest record' (a double superlative) and 'strictly zero participants'. The phrasing 'the number of participants are film club' is grammatically incorrect and imprecise. You rely on basic vocabulary to describe trends, such as 'increasing and reducing', rather than using more precise academic terms like 'fluctuated', 'peaked', or 'declined'. To reach a higher band, focus on using more varied and accurate vocabulary to describe data trends and avoid redundant expressions.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. There are issues with subject-verb agreement, such as 'the number of participants are' and 'the table tennis record that have been shown'. Sentence structures are often repetitive and contain errors in preposition usage and article placement, such as 'in in the year 2000'. While there is an attempt to use complex sentences, they are often poorly constructed or contain errors that affect the meaning. Focusing on basic sentence structure accuracy and proofreading for subject-verb agreement would help improve your score in this area.
